My lovely wife and I had a rather exciting and busy year in 2008.
We started out the year by staying up to 3am on New Years setting off fireworks in knee deep snow on the third floor roof in down town Fort Collins. This year I bombed out (Pardon the pun) and stayed home. In 2008 we managed do the following:
Spent a long weekend in Yellowstone, Painted the house, installed hard wood flooring in the living room, completely re-model the kitchen, earned 12 College credits, survived a tornado, attended the pyrotechnics guild international convention, helped with five large professional fireworks shows, saw RUSH in concert, walked 5k to cure breast cancer, drove to California in a snow storm for Christmas, built and launched two rockets for our wedding anniversary, helped our son’s marching band win state championship, saw Bill Engval live in Greeley, and took my eldest son to a casino on his 21st birthday.
This list is of course not in the order of occurrence.
I am curious about next year….
We have no illusions that 2009 will be any less busy. In two weeks I will start teaching (Part time, one class, twice a week), my youngest son is going to Washington to play in his HS marching band at the presidential inauguration (worry and pride), more fireworks shows to help with, a trip to Balls to get my L3 cert, build a L3 cert worthy rocket, my youngest son’s HS graduation, more college, and more walking for breasts (Because I support breasts)
So more rockets, guns, fireworks, BBQ, Blogging, and who knows what else. I plan on camping out more in my HPM, replacing the windshield, sanding and painting the rust. Maybe, if I am feeling really ambitious, I want to start riding my Bicycle to work. I also plan on going public with the Steampunk action shooting society project.
I found out a long time ago that the best way to enjoy life is to stay busy. My Dad has a wonderful saying for this. He says: “If you want to get something done give it to a busy man”
Please don’t. I have enough to do, thank you very much.
I don’t have any New Years resolutions. I have daily resolutions. Tonight I resolve to sit by the fire pit and sip a glass of Kentucky Whiskey.
I wish you could join me.
Tomorrow I may be too busy.
