Well I am going to start my Level three certification process. I am Tripoli member in good standings and have had a Level 2 for a few years. For those who don’t know the size of rocket motors here is a little chart to get an idea of power vs. impulse designation.

I have flown everything from a A motor to a L motor. I have clustered J motors, air started I, J and K motors, and I have even made two stage cluster AP combinations. I have helped on lots of rockets in the M, N and O range. Now I figure it was time for me to get my L-3 out of the way.
The requirements for the rocket are as follows.
Motor: I have changed my mind about using a Hybrid motor. The motor of choice is now the Animal Motor Works M 2200 Skid Mark Squirrel.
Motor mount: 3″ x 48″
Outside diameter: 4″ length 9″
Material: Carbon fiber / Kevlar composite over phenolic resin. Fiberglass and carbon fiber fins. Solid urethane nose cone.
Electronics: One barometric Altimeter one Accelerometer based altimeter.
Shock cord: 5/8″ tubular Kevlar 40′ two each
Recovery: two each 72″ parachutes.
Design: (3fnc) Three fins and a nose cone. Booster section to house the motor and drogue shock cord. Electronics bay. Upper air frame section for main parachutes.
Simulation: Roc Sim software.
Launch date: September 2009
Launch location: Balls (Black Rock Desert)
I also need a name for this rocket. Suggestions are welcome.
More details coming up.
